Explore Our History

In the early 1950s, the business began as a campground exclusively for employees of the Spring Textile Company. Colonel Elliott White Springs, a distinguished World War I fighter pilot and ace, acquired 30 acres of Myrtle Beach oceanfront land specifically for his employees to enjoy as a vacation retreat. Over the years, this humble campground evolved into the Springmaid Beach Resort. Subsequently, it expanded to include a conference center and an additional room tower, marking its transformation into a well-regarded destination.

Springmade Pier

Our property is home to one of the area's most popular landmarks and the longest pier on the eastern seaboard, Springmaid Pier. Myrtle Beach, is steeped in a rich history of harvesting and processing timber and turpentine from the surrounding forests, which also led to the construction of coastal piers for loading merchant ships with the harvested resources.
